Subject Of The Day #11 - Leading Lines - Closed

Here’s a fun game that everyone will be able to participate in. Here’s how it goes:

1. Every other day I will choose a different subject. Your goal is to find an image in your gallery that goes with that subject.

2. Share the embedded image below and include either a description or key words with your post. You can share any medium of art - photography, digital art, photopaintings, paintings, etc.

3. You can share one or two images per day. You can share from FAA or Pixels – your choice.

4. If you have time, browse through the images above you and promote them however you want to. However, this is completely optional, NOT required.

5. When we move to a new subject, I will indicate it in the title of the discussion thread and make a post below to announce the new subject of the day.

6. Last, but not least, join us and have FUN!!

You can post the embedded image by doing the following:
Open the image you want to share. Look on the right hand side of the page and scroll down to where it says "embed". Click your mouse on the link in this section which will highlight the entire link. Now do a CTL+C. This will make a copy of the link. Come back to this discussion thread and click in a new message box at the bottom of the thread. Now do a CTL+V. This will paste the link into the box. Then click the submit button at the bottom of the thread and your image will appear.

This was a sunset along the New Jersey coast as seen off shore about 5 miles while aboard a sailboat making the the trek south during the fall migration to warmer waters. Usually to Florida or down to the Caribbean.

Sea anemones breed by liberating sperm and eggs through the mouth into the sea. The resulting fertilized eggs develop into planula larvae which, after being planktonic for a while, settle on the seabed and develop directly into juvenile polyps. Sea anemones also breed asexually, by breaking in half or into smaller pieces which regenerate into polyps. Sea anemones are sometimes kept in reef aquariums; the global trade in marine ornamentals for this purpose is expanding and threatens sea anemone populations in some localities, as the trade depends on collection from the wild. In this image, if you look closely, you can see the Clown fish hiding from any predators!!!

The Haulover would be the first constructed link in Florida’s part in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. The name “Haulover” was given the short link as a result of three Seminole Wars during which the military removed men and materials from barges transporting men and materials from either the end of the Indian River or the Mosquito Lagoon and “hauled over” a seven-mile spit of land to the other body of water. In the 1950’s, the federal government modernized this short link, cutting through hard, sharp coquina rock at considerable cost.

In 1958, John Bandimere Sr. purchased a parcel of land on the west side of Denver nestled up against the Hogback leading up to the Rocky Mountains. He and his family began the process of constructing a small but efficient drag strip that was to be used to augment their auto parts business. It also was the fulfillment of a dream of John Sr.'s to provide a safe environment for young people to learn about cars and race them off the streets.

In 1826 construction was completed on Garden Key for a lighthouse and keepers cottage to guide shipping around the reefs of the Dry Tortugas Islands and in 1846 construction was started for a fort as a forward bastion to protect against hostile shipping in the Gulf. The design called for a four-tiered six-sided 1000 heavy-gun fort, with two sides measuring 415 feet, and four sides measuring 564 feet. Fort Jefferson was designed to be a massive gun platform, impervious to assault, and able to destroy any enemy ships foolhardy enough to come within range of its powerful guns.

Bridge on the River Kwai, remembered by the epic classic movie filmed in 1957, was loosely based on a true World War II incident, and the real-life character of Lieutenant Colonel Philip Toosey. One of a number of Allied POW's, Toosey was in charge of his men from late 1942 through May 1943 when they were ordered to build two Kwai River bridges in Burma (one of steel, one of wood), to help move Japanese supplies and troops from Bangkok to Rangoon.
