Artist's Description

We were living in Manitou Springs when the fire began. I stepped out of our home and grabbed this shot, not knowing what was to come. In tragedy we can find beauty. The beginning of what would become the Waldo Canyon Fire. Started June 23, 2012, and contained July 10, 2012 after burning 18,247 acres. 32,000 residents of Colorado Springs, Colorado were evacuated, along with a partial evacuation of The United States Air Force Academy. 346 homes were destroyed.
